United States Marine Corps Birthday Celebration

Each year on November 10th, the United States Marine Corps marks its birthday—a tradition that dates back to 1775 when the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines. This day commemorates the founding of the Marine Corps and serves as a time-honored celebration of its proud legacy, values, and brotherhood.

Our Detachment #1141 takes great pride in honoring this historic occasion through a formal birthday celebration. In close collaboration with the Blue Star Mothers of the Midlands, we host a commemorative evening that reflects the enduring traditions and spirit of the Corps. The event features the reading of General Lejeune’s birthday message, the traditional cake-cutting ceremony, and heartfelt tributes to Marines—past and present. It is a meaningful gathering that brings together Veterans, active-duty service members, families, and supporters in a spirit of remembrance, pride, and unity. Semper Fidelis.
